“So, ready or not… Here… I… come!”
Yelled Lamby while bounding into the warm sun.
The first games of summer had finally begun!
With a dance through the flowers, and song on the lips,
Our Lamby went searching with happy hoof kicks.
A peek in the bushes. A glance up the tree.
But no one was found. They just couldn’t be seen.
A jig to the pond and a hop by the thicket.
But Lamby found no one around or within it.
A stop and a listen – ‘twas eerily quiet.
“Hello!” Lamby called – but no one did reply it.
Then Lamby grew worried, and searched much more frantically,
Under ten rocks and in beehives with buzzing bees.
But just in that moment there came a slight peep.
Enough to make Lamby take pause and not weep.
And peer into Bunny’s house out from blue skies,
Where every last friend grinned and shouted, “Surprise!”
“Egads!” Lamby sputtered, “What’s this, on a Thursday?”
“Hooray!” they all shouted, and sang, “Happy birthday!”
Relieved and with smiles Lamby danced on blue hooves,
Erupting in such new enormous sweet grooves
That all of the friends joined and copied the moves.
They danced and made merry from then until night,
And Lamby went home feeling loved just right.
